In the 1950s, in the alleys of the old city of Tripoli, the star of Hajj Ali Naji Al-Swayah emerged in the world of glass. Born and raised in Tripoli, his passion for glass was evident from a young age. He laid the foundation for the glass profession in the Carpenter’s Market, where he began to work earnestly and passionately. His proficiency in the Italian language helped him learn the skills of this craft from Italian artisans at that time. His love for the profession enabled him to keep up with developments, and his skilled hands delicately manipulated glass, attracting people to his high artistry and craftsmanship.
In the late 1950s, Hajj Ali moved to Mezran Street and joined forces with his younger brother, Hajj Ramadan Naji Al-Swayah, forming a distinctive duo in the world of glass. Here, Hajj Ali’s experience combined with Hajj Ramadan’s energy and enthusiasm, greatly contributing to the advancement of this craft and marking the real takeoff for the Al-Swayah family in the world of glass. They continued to develop the profession and expand their business, making the Al-Swayah family one of the prominent families in this field.
